GURL23:
Volunteering at Vancouver Fashion Week S/S 26

I met Larissa "GURL23" Healey (IG@larissahealey, TT@ladygrassdancer) at ApparelCamp2025 when I asked Larissa if they needed help in setting up their upcycled Indigenous regalia for their talk. We became friends from our shared decolonial values in the local community, and Larissa invited me to be their backstage assistant to help them open the show for Vancouver Fashion Week S/S 26!

A Sneak Peek Backstage

Thank you again to Larissa for inviting me into your world—getting to meet your family (the models, the drummers, the cheerleaders, everyone!) filled me with joy and hope for what the fashion world could be. I feel incredibly grateful that I can uplift Indigenous Peoples and artistry using my skills in fashion design AND social justice advocacy! A special thank-you to photographer Nat Zhou (IG@tenderlan) for capturing the golden glow when I completed an emergency repair for Brooke's outfit before the show.
